Extend Your Christmas Sets Beyond Christmas

My son recently took up playing the French horn.  The Musical Instruments Framelits featured in our Holiday Catalog was perfect for creating a birthday card for him.  I love when I can extend dies and stamp sets from Christmas beyond the holiday season.  This framelit set and corresponding stamp set are perfect for doing this.  I can see this die also being used in concert scrapbook pages.  I'm currently using the set to create gift tags and holiday cards, but will be breaking it out in time for my son's first concert.  This set also features a beautiful harp, musical note, mandolin, and drummer boy (perfect for those with percussionists).

Stamps: Happy Birthday Gorgeous
Ink: Basic Black, Bermuda Bay
Paper: Very Vanilla, Bermuda Bay, Champagne Foil Sheets, (Musical Note Paper is a little extra retired paper that I had on hand but could be substituted with Merry Music Specialty Paper)
Accessories: Musical Instrument Framelits Dies

A Card for My Hubby

Today's card is the card that I made for my hubby.  We celebrated his birthday this week.  For this card, I used the Freshly Made Sketches Sketch #298 from last week.  At first, I wasn't very happy with how it was coming out.  I had envisioned using the Happy Birthday die cut instead of the stamped sentiment, but it was just too big for this particular design.  So I added the stamped image, some bling and an extra matted layer, and wallah, success!

See below for the ingredients for this card:
Stamps: Happy Birthday Gorgeous
Paper: Dapper Denim, Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizazz, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Ink: Dapper Denim, Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizazz, Soft Sky
Accessories: Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper, Stampin' Dimensionals

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge 252

Twice in one week!  I know!  A miracle!  Can you tell I'm empty nesting with the kids at camp this week?  Today's card utilizes a sketch challenge from the Paper Craft Crew (PCC252).

I love using sketch challenges for inspiration.  I needed one for this stamp set since every card I looked at on Pinterest had the retired DSP that coordinated with this set, a similar problem that I had with my previous card.  While I love DSP, I really like to explore a stamp set's full potential by making cards without the DSP.

Here are the ingredients for today's card:

Stamps: Cool Treats, Swirly Bird
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, Peekaboo Peach
Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Peekaboo Peach
Accessories: Frozen Treats Framelits, Sprinkles Embellishments (retired)

I'm Back!

Hello all!  I've taken a very long hiatus from blogging!  I like to be honest with myself and my readers.  I am not sure how long this will last.  I find I have more time in the summer to blog with my volunteer activities at a minimal.  Once the school year starts, I may go dark again, but we'll take it one day at a time for now!

Today, I'd like to share one of my cards I made for my stamp club tomorrow evening.  We are doing a summer theme for tomorrow's club so I definitely wanted to use the Seaside Shore stamp set.  I was struggling with using this set because all the inspiration our there used our retired DSP from last year along with the color scheme from that paper.  I finally was able to break away from the old color scheme, although not completely.  I threw the new Tranquil Tide (2017-19 In Color) in with Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Night of Navy and used a sketch inspiration from the Mojo Monday blog (#383).  Here are all the ingredients for my card:

Stamps: Seaside Shore
Ink: Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide
Paper: Whisper White, Tranquil Tide, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Night of Navy, Whole Lot of Lovely DSP
Accessories: Paper Snips
