Sneaky Peeky

It's almost time for the release of the 2018 Holiday Catalog and I thought I'd give you a little sneak peak into one of the great bundles available in the Holiday Catalog.  I have to say from the minute I saw this bundle, I knew I had to have it!!  There are so many reindeer to choose from!

For this card, I chose a non-traditional color scheme for this elegant card.  I even snuck a little Halloween ribbon in, but it truly came out perfect!

Here are the ingredients for today's card:

Stamps: Dashing Deer
Paper: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Gold Foil
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento
Accessories: Detailed Deer Thinlits, Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon

Many of the items in this card will be available to order September 5.  To place an order, visit my online store.

Sweet and Simple

Hello friends!  I took a little hiatus from blogging last week to take my boys for one last trip up to the Cape before school starts and I increase my hours at work.  It was a nice relaxing trip despite getting splattered with a little fish guts at the fish pier!  Got in a little beach time and was able to visit with my sister and canine niece.  I took my Paper Pumpkin kit from July with me to add a little stamping time to my trip.  I'm trying to decide whether to use it for a little something to give the teachers to start off the school year or save it for Teacher Appreciation time.

With our busy lives, it is often a challenge to fit in time for "Me Time".  Stamping is definitely a "Me Time" activity for me.  Paper Pumpkin is one excellent way to fit in the time with everything all prepped for you.  Another great way is making simple cards.  Today's simple card fits the bill while also applying a few techniques as well.  We made this card at my stamp club this month since I promised simple cards after a lot of die cutting the month before!

The subtle background is created using a splattering technique with a paint brush and ink.  I am hoping to start up some FB LIVE posts on my FB page.  This will definitely be a technique I show since it is so simple!  The other technique used was just embossing the sentiment on vellum cardstock.  It gives the card a nice elegant lift.  Attaching vellum to your card is always a challenge since it is translucent.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals just behind the lettering so they are not visible. You can always cut your dimensionals to fit nicely.

Here is the entire supply list for today's card:
Stamps: Rooted in Nature
Paper: Whisper White, Vellum
Ink: Versamark, Lemon Lime Twist, Night of Navy
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Nature's Roots Framelits, 2-1/4" Circle Punch, Metallic Pearls (Gold)

A Pop of Gorgeous Grape

Tonight, I meet with my 10 lovely stamp club ladies.  I promised them to keep things moderately simple this month since last month I had them doing some complicated folding and endless die cutting.  While keeping things simple, I don't want to get too simple since many of these ladies have been stamping a long time.  I thought this card featuring our "Color Your Season" products would do the trick.  Who can't resist a little soothing coloring?  I know I can't!

This product line, only available this month, has truly captured my fancy!  I am loving playing with it!  I will admit a few epic fails in the coloring of the flowers (ie accidently not cleaning my blender pen that was used to mix the yellow and dragging it through the purple-not pretty!), but failure has allowed me to perfect my technique.  It had been a while since I had pulled out my blender pens to use with water color pencils.  You really want to avoid going over the same area too much or you will get pilling of your paper (probably something you remember doing as a kid with markers-I know I do!).  I find nice circular motions blend colors the best.  I lightly color the flowers in gorgeous grape and make nice dark lines in the "veins" of the flower for variation of color.  My best advice is to play with your pencils and find what works best for you!

Here are the ingredients for this card:
Stamps: Blended Seasons
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Gorgeous Grape
Ink: Stazon Jet Black
Accessories: Water Color Pencil Assortment II

Just Keep Swimming

Last week, I had the pleasure of sharing my love for stamping with one of my friends and some of her pals.  She is a big scrapbooker, so we opted to have one of the Make-N-Takes be a scrapbook page.  We made a 8x6 page which could be mounted on a larger page (12x12 pictured here) or could even be framed.  This page suits a rather small picture so I was so happy to find this pic from Disney in front of the "Finding Nemo" characters when we took my oldest son on his first trip.  It was appropriate to pull out this picture as we are preparing for his fifth trip!

This page is very versatile and works for beach pictures, aquarium pictures or even Disney.  I love how you can mask out the word "Have" in the sentiment stamp to create a great page title!  At first, I wasn't going to get this stamp set, but am so happy I did!  I've been able to use the entire Tranquil Textures suite to make so many cute summery projects.

Here are the ingredients:
Stamps: Seas of Texture
Paper: Whisper White, Mint Macaron, Tranquil Tide, Soft Sea Foam, Very Vanilla, Tranquil Textures DSP
Ink: Fresh Fig, Mint Macaron, Soft Sea Foam
Accessories: Under the Sea Framelits

A Little Fusion!

I am so excited to have found a new challenge blog!  Several of the ones I used to play fizzled out, so I am happy to see some new ones becoming popular.  The one I found for today's card is called Fusion.  You are given a sketch and a picture for inspiration.  You have the option of using one or a "fusion" of both.  I opted for the Fusion.  I'm loving how it came out!  Here is the Fusion-Rustic Flowers challenge that I used for today's post:

Here are the ingredients for today's card:

Stamp Set: Varied Vases
Paper: Sahara Sand, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Grapefruit Grove, Garden Impressions DSP, Wood Textures DSP
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink
Accessories: Vases Builder Punch, Nature's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals

Christmas Will Be Here Before You Know It

I bet you're thinking Christmas?  Seriously?  This is what I think every time I walk into a store and Christmas items appear earlier and earlier each year.  While I tend to work on my Christmas and Hanukkah shopping throughout the year to avoid stress at the last minute, I dread seeing Christmas items popping up at stores.  I would like to help others avoid some of the holiday season stress by giving them a jump start on their Christmas cards.  I am doing this by hosting what will hopefully be my first of three Holiday Card Buffets at the end of August.  For those who have never heard of a Card Buffet, you come to the event and get to pick which cards you make like a real buffet!  You can also choose how many cards you make!  I am so excited to try this out.  The above card is one of the cards attendees will have the opportunity to make.  If you are local to me in CT, I hope you'll be able to make it on August 25.  Pop me an email if you need more information!

Workin' the Water Color

Today, I lost track of my day playing with water color.  I was working on a technique for my upcoming Holiday Card Buffet at the end of the month which took a couple tries to get the desired effect, but I finally achieved a technique that worked.  My next thing was to break out my new Blended Seasons stamp set and new water color pencils.  I initially thought I'd use some of my Stampin' Blends to color these gorgeous flowers but decided I liked the look of the water color pencils better.  I am so happy we have even more water color pencils to choose from!

The Color Your Season promotion offers the Blended Seasons Stamp Set, Stitched Seasons Framelits, and Water Color Pencils Assortment II only for the month of August while supplies last.  The stamp set and framelits are also available in a bundle!  The options are pictured below.  Visit my website to place your order or order at an event this month.

Stamps: Blended Season
Paper: Balmy Blue, Whisper White, Tranquil Textures DSP
