Sweet and Simple

Hello friends!  I took a little hiatus from blogging last week to take my boys for one last trip up to the Cape before school starts and I increase my hours at work.  It was a nice relaxing trip despite getting splattered with a little fish guts at the fish pier!  Got in a little beach time and was able to visit with my sister and canine niece.  I took my Paper Pumpkin kit from July with me to add a little stamping time to my trip.  I'm trying to decide whether to use it for a little something to give the teachers to start off the school year or save it for Teacher Appreciation time.

With our busy lives, it is often a challenge to fit in time for "Me Time".  Stamping is definitely a "Me Time" activity for me.  Paper Pumpkin is one excellent way to fit in the time with everything all prepped for you.  Another great way is making simple cards.  Today's simple card fits the bill while also applying a few techniques as well.  We made this card at my stamp club this month since I promised simple cards after a lot of die cutting the month before!

The subtle background is created using a splattering technique with a paint brush and ink.  I am hoping to start up some FB LIVE posts on my FB page.  This will definitely be a technique I show since it is so simple!  The other technique used was just embossing the sentiment on vellum cardstock.  It gives the card a nice elegant lift.  Attaching vellum to your card is always a challenge since it is translucent.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals just behind the lettering so they are not visible. You can always cut your dimensionals to fit nicely.

Here is the entire supply list for today's card:
Stamps: Rooted in Nature
Paper: Whisper White, Vellum
Ink: Versamark, Lemon Lime Twist, Night of Navy
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Nature's Roots Framelits, 2-1/4" Circle Punch, Metallic Pearls (Gold)
