The Play is the Thing

Last week, my youngest performed in his first musical ever, "Mulan, Jr.", in the role of Fa Zhou, Mulan's father.  He did such a fantastic job (proud mom moment)! To celebrate his first show, I wanted to get him something special, but it took me a little while to come up with something.  I finally found the perfect thing, a Jim Shore piece with Mulan and Fa Zhou under a cherry tree.  Unfortunately, the gift was not going to be here in time so I wanted to create a card with a hint of what was to come.  The Colorful Seasons Bundle was perfect to recreate the cherry blossom tree, significant to Mulan and her father.  The sentiment was so appropriate too.  Before each performance, he would say, "I need to breathe."  This stamp set and coordinating die cut are only available in the 10% discounted bundle through the end of this month.  After that, they will only be available for purchase individually.

Here are the details for my card:
Stamps: Colorful Seasons
Ink: Early Espresso, Calypso Coral
Paper: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Calypso Coral
Accessories: Seasonal Layers Framelits

Sweet Little Boxes

Hello all!  I have been away from blogging yet again!  This time was due to an unfortunate event with my computer.  We had an update run on the computer back in January that basically made the entire computer inaccessible.  While almost all my files were recovered, programs loaded on it were not.  I lost Photoshop and cannot find my original file to reinstall.  Well, it is time to upgrade to the latest version anyway.  Anyway, I needed to find a new way to watermark my images.  I have now and can get back to blogging.

This past week, I have been having fun making these sweet little boxes for Teacher Appreciation Week.  This bundle and coordinating paper is so much fun!  These easy to assemble mini pizza boxes boxes can be filled with little treats or mini note cards with our 3x3 envelopes.  What a great way to show appreciation to those that touch our children's lives!

This bundle and coordinating paper from the Tutti-Frutti Suite is among the retiring items so hurry up and get them before they are discontinued!  Anyone ordering the Fruit Basket Bundle with me from now until it is discontinued will receive a free tutorial on making these boxes!

Here are the ingredients:

Stamp Set: Fruit Basket (comes in a bundle with punches)
Paper: Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Whisper White, Tutti-Frutti DSP
Ink: Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Black Memento
Accessories: Lemon Lime Twist 1/4" Ombre Ribbon, Mini Pizza Boxes, Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack (comes in bundle with stamp set), Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Stitched Shapes Framelits

Extend Your Christmas Sets Beyond Christmas

My son recently took up playing the French horn.  The Musical Instruments Framelits featured in our Holiday Catalog was perfect for creating a birthday card for him.  I love when I can extend dies and stamp sets from Christmas beyond the holiday season.  This framelit set and corresponding stamp set are perfect for doing this.  I can see this die also being used in concert scrapbook pages.  I'm currently using the set to create gift tags and holiday cards, but will be breaking it out in time for my son's first concert.  This set also features a beautiful harp, musical note, mandolin, and drummer boy (perfect for those with percussionists).

Stamps: Happy Birthday Gorgeous
Ink: Basic Black, Bermuda Bay
Paper: Very Vanilla, Bermuda Bay, Champagne Foil Sheets, (Musical Note Paper is a little extra retired paper that I had on hand but could be substituted with Merry Music Specialty Paper)
Accessories: Musical Instrument Framelits Dies

A Card for My Hubby

Today's card is the card that I made for my hubby.  We celebrated his birthday this week.  For this card, I used the Freshly Made Sketches Sketch #298 from last week.  At first, I wasn't very happy with how it was coming out.  I had envisioned using the Happy Birthday die cut instead of the stamped sentiment, but it was just too big for this particular design.  So I added the stamped image, some bling and an extra matted layer, and wallah, success!

See below for the ingredients for this card:
Stamps: Happy Birthday Gorgeous
Paper: Dapper Denim, Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizazz, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Ink: Dapper Denim, Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizazz, Soft Sky
Accessories: Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper, Stampin' Dimensionals

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge 252

Twice in one week!  I know!  A miracle!  Can you tell I'm empty nesting with the kids at camp this week?  Today's card utilizes a sketch challenge from the Paper Craft Crew (PCC252).

I love using sketch challenges for inspiration.  I needed one for this stamp set since every card I looked at on Pinterest had the retired DSP that coordinated with this set, a similar problem that I had with my previous card.  While I love DSP, I really like to explore a stamp set's full potential by making cards without the DSP.

Here are the ingredients for today's card:

Stamps: Cool Treats, Swirly Bird
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, Peekaboo Peach
Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Peekaboo Peach
Accessories: Frozen Treats Framelits, Sprinkles Embellishments (retired)

I'm Back!

Hello all!  I've taken a very long hiatus from blogging!  I like to be honest with myself and my readers.  I am not sure how long this will last.  I find I have more time in the summer to blog with my volunteer activities at a minimal.  Once the school year starts, I may go dark again, but we'll take it one day at a time for now!

Today, I'd like to share one of my cards I made for my stamp club tomorrow evening.  We are doing a summer theme for tomorrow's club so I definitely wanted to use the Seaside Shore stamp set.  I was struggling with using this set because all the inspiration our there used our retired DSP from last year along with the color scheme from that paper.  I finally was able to break away from the old color scheme, although not completely.  I threw the new Tranquil Tide (2017-19 In Color) in with Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Night of Navy and used a sketch inspiration from the Mojo Monday blog (#383).  Here are all the ingredients for my card:

Stamps: Seaside Shore
Ink: Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide
Paper: Whisper White, Tranquil Tide, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Night of Navy, Whole Lot of Lovely DSP
Accessories: Paper Snips

Snow Day=Card Making Day!

So as usual, it has been quite a while since my last post, but we were hit by a bit of a blizzard yesterday and the unheard of occurred, I did not have to work.  Working in the medical field usually means we don't close for anything, but the governor's travel ban seems to be the one thing that can shut us down.  So, I had a little free time to stamp!

I created this card using the last Clean and Simple Challenge (FTL 314) posted in November.  I was sad to see their challenges unexpectedly stopped.  I hope it is not permanent since I love their sketches.  Here are the details of today's card:

Stamps: Snuggles and Smooches
Ink: Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Memento Black
Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Stacked with Love DSP
Accessories: Sweetheart Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Keep an eye out for another card in the coming days!
